Long time no update!
Todays instalment will bring you with no big surprise the latest goodies and rarities from Just Another Day records!

i have a modest 18 records to show you today so without further delay lets get. It. On!

HALF THE BATTLE - What we have!

Half the battle stick to JADs usual youthcrew sound which is fantastic! Positive lyrics with a great message! the thing that makes this release unique is that its the first ever Lp pressed for a Philippines youthcrew band, the songs have been put onto a CD before by a different record label but this is the first ever hardcore band to be pressed to vinyl. (this is what i have been told by their singer Easy so sorry if i am wrong) for fans of the first step, champion, set it straight.

the frount of the cover shows a crew of kids destroying a robot in what looks like a apocalypse scenario! im positive the robot deserved it!

there are 4 regular colours for this release!

an awesome clear blue!

this very nice Red

a change from tradition for JAD but a Black that will appeal to those who aren't fans of colour vinyl

and this VERY VERY nice clear orange that reminds me alot of the floorpunch on gold but super sized!!! seriously you need to own this as pictures dont do it justice!

First up we have this awesome screen printed cover that comes with a awesome clear dark green vinyl! im hoping that a limited screen printed cover becomes a tradition for JAD when it comes to LPs, Resolve got an awesome one and now Half the battle have one! fingers crossed that one will come with Freewills discography ;)

the second cover variant is the test press! different to the Resolve LP Seb has made one from a blank sleeve and a live picture, i prefer this a great deal to just having a regular cover with a stamp on it. it makes you feel like you own something special!

the following releases break away from the sound that has defined JAD so far. When i started talking to Seb from the label it quickly became apparant to me that he wasn't a one genre horse. whilst he loves hardcore and youthcrew he also has a passion for grunge, grindcore and "8o's goth music" and as he's the dude who pays for all the releases he's the dude who decides what comes out. when he told me he was going to be putting out Sanitys dawn's LP my first question was "Who?" after listening it reminded me alot of what i sometimes listene to about 8-10 years ago. not my cup of tea nowerdays but very good for what it is!

the cover is very gory ! i have no idea about the story behind the cover idea or who the err lovely lady on the front is but im sure it has some relevance haha!

First up colour wise is a very nicely done tri colour! reminds me of the one SFU records did for True colours a few years ago! /321

The splatter is a mix of .. well its yellow with ALOT of other colours haha! /319

onto the 7"s!!

first up is this AMAZING record! i reviewed the Shout aloud 7" some months ago now ( and its soon to be re pressed!) and i thought i had every version! that was until Seb sent me this JAD CREW version /3!!! needless tyosay i am very very very happy to have this !!
is a wonderful mix of clear and white giving it a very nice smokey effect

SANITYS DAWN / WADGE - Split '"
following the new diversity in the JAD camp Seb and the gang bring you a 7" split between Sanitys dawn and the bizarre WADGE! both bands have a similar sound so are a perfect combination for a split! Yet again not my cup of tea nowadays but very good for what it is! i wish i could say more but my knowledge about these genres is very minimal!

There are some lovely colours in the transitions for this record the "brown" is my favourite!the yellow is a great solid colour!

and the purple has these awesome dark wisps in it!
baby pule is a mixture of the yellow, brown and black i think

brown is only brown when not up against light! when you hold it up all sorts comes through red yellow black its amazing!!

yellow mix is exactly that! yellow and black!

out of nowhere comes a solid RED! this happened with a previous JAD record it must be the plants idea of a joke haha!

this light yellow looks a little like the neon yellow from the Debaser 7" press!! very nice!

i redesigned the Chung king cover for the test press of this record! ill post the story behind it one day!

This post will be a little different to my regular ones because i am going to talk about YCAR and to be more specific the Shout Aloud demo 7"!
YCAR was to be my record label and my aim was to put out bands demo's so that tehy could reach a wider audience either in Europe or the states!
My first idea was to put out 2 local bands demo tapes and to get them hear outside of the UK those bands were In this for fun (now Basement) and Dungeons! This was quickly put down when Dungeons announced that they would be breaking up soon. In this for fun (Basement) were still down but needed to record and all i needed was to save up to get things rolling! A little while later i stumbled across the band Shout aloud on myspace, i believe that they were recommended to me by someone who had me added as a friend on myspace at the time. After hearing the band i contacted them and asked if they would want me to do a second run of the tape. The band agreed and seemed excited so whilst In this for fun were recording i got the SA ball rolling!
I contacted my friend Jay Jacoby and asked if he would be up for doing the art work! Jay had done work for bands such as Alert, Outlast and the YCAR logo, i was probably one of his biggest fans! Jay agreed and asked what i had in mind. I believe i asked for something along the lines of " the band with animal heads rocking out" Jay agreed but asked me to supply some reference material and heres what i provided him with :

Vitya from Shout aloud is the only one on the cover based on a member from the actual band
on vocals Ryan from Outbreak (i've lost my photoshopped version with the cougar head)

From the reference material Jay sketched out a scene and sent me the rough sketch i believe that the first version had a differnt bass to the one i have here which was later changed to be Sasha from the bands. The band also requested that they be wearing some crucial shirts! here in the sketch you can see Vitya wearing a Uniform choice shirt!

Once i had approved the sketch and the band had as well Jay went ahead and finished the sketch with inks! as you can see a chain and judge shirt were added and the bass was changed slightly!

Jay was also kind enough to contact his friend jym 129 who did Graffiti and ask for some designs for the font on the cover. heres a few of the designs and the one we chose for it in the end:

After we decided upon one of the fonts i set about doing a layout. heres the one i was eventually happy with and the band initially agreed to.

The band were keen on having more than one cover so they sent me an image that they liked for a alternative cover and i put that together as well (below)
so after this things went on hold for a little while whilst i got some money together. In this time the band asked a friend to have a go at redesigning the cover and this is what he came up with

i really liked this design so i approved it and this was to be the regular version with my cover as a pre order incentive.
so a few weeks went by and some stuff happened in my life im not going to go into detail about but it meant there would be no way in hell i could devote the money and time to YCAR that it deserved so i decided that YCAR would be no more until the day that i could afford to do it again.
Luckily during the process of desining etc i had linked Seb from Just another day records to the band and he loved what he heard. Sebs plan was to wait until i had released the tapes and use that as the incentive to press the demo to 7" Seb had even suggested we release them side by side as a joint collaboration! After i told Seb i wouldn't be able to release the tape he put the Demo 7" into production and the rest is JAD history not YCAR.
Seb and the band thought it would be a nice idea to use the demo tape art as the demo test press sleeve. I also get a mention in the sleeve for my efforts and i couldn't be happier that the band have been able to do this.

JAD will be releasing another Shout aloud 7" later in the year! Keep an ear out for that!

Just another record? i think not!!!

This has to be the most anticipated records for me ever! What's so spacial about it you ask? Well this is the first record i put out......

ok ok ok so i didn't put it out but i was supposed to put out the demo tape on my (now dead) record label last year before i realised i had no money! When i realised that i wasnt going to be able to put it out i passed the band over to Seb at Just another day and he did what he dose best and remasterd the tracks and pressed it to a 7"!!!
The stand out band of Russia's Youth crew scene Shout Aloud first caught my attention mid 09 and i was determined to get them heard outside of Russia/europe! my intention was to press the demo tape for a second time and market it to those in the UK and USA so the band would get a wider audience! Now that JAD have taken the reins and have pressed it to Vinyl i feel that the band will be heard by even more people than i could have hoped to do with my small run of tapes!

ON WITH THE VINYL!

so for a change i thought i would start with the covers!! Above we have the regular cover for this release and its pretty damn nice! its a step away from the regular youthcrew style cover of college font or hooded chaps and i think it really works! printed on great quality card and the same old fflawless quality you come to expect from JAD

Next up is the test press cover! This cover has art from Jay Jacoby and was the art for the demo tapes i was going to put out! below i will put the sketch, final sketch and the layout i designed before this version was decided on! my favourite test press cover of all time!

80 copies on white stamped with black ink
this is a really nice white with very subtle blue hints from the plates!

90 copies on solid blue stamped with black ink! a great vibrant blue!

I have 3/17 copies on blue/white mixed vinyl stamped with purple ink and numbered on the labels! this is a very pretty transition from the blue to the white!

4/14 copies on blue/black mixed vinyl stamped with purple ink and numbered on the labels! this record looks simply awesome!!! great looking transition!!

Times Together Resolve!

So i've been gona a long while again! Partily due to not much money to spend on records partialy due to not having enough time when i get a few!
As you may have guessed if you have read my blog before this is going to be another post for the mighty Just another day records!
The bands on the block today are Times Together the UKs best and pretty much only youthcrew band! The second release is JAD's first LP by Resolve!!

First up Resolve!! I First stumbled on Resolve through the old Youthcrew thread that was about on the B9 board last year and loved what i was hearing! i picked up their tapes and didnt hear much from them until Seb at JAD said he would be putting out their LP! I was lucky enough to get a early digital copy of the LP and mark my words anyone who is a fan of any YC record lable or year sound will want to pick this up!
Anyway this is a record blog so i will talk about the records now!
RESOLVE - WON'T STAND BY LP

This is the Test press for Won't stand by 11/20 As this is the First LP then i suppose it was time for a change in how JAD presented its Tests. With previous releases JAD has just used blank coloured jackets however this is 2010 not 2009 damnit! So lets move forward! Its presented in a hand stamped version of the regular press's sleeve and hand numberd on the back! The record its self comes in a thin plastic sleeve and has a JAD stamp on one side (above) and the Resolve logo on the other (below) Very nice job for the first JAD LP test!

For those who preorderd the record you will be treated to this amazing hand silkscreened cover for the LP! The sleeve is super thick and the quality is fantastic! Mine is numberd 17/80! The vinyl inside this sleeve is the same as the Burgundy in the regular sleeve i talk about below.

Now as i understand it this release was only going to have 2 covers to start with but then Seb from JAD convinced Resolve to let him do a Iron Maiden style trooper cover! and as you can see its turned out very very well! when Seb recieved the original layout for this cover the lyrics were the wrong way round so he sent me the file and i flpped the lyrics and sent it back. Later when i was talking to Kevin from the band i joked that i should have put my name in the thanks list and he agreed! Oh well haha! This is /400

The Vinyl for this is a cool orangy red with black and green splatter. When Seb was talking to the plant about doing this he wanted the plant to do a clear record with confetti in it so it could be the first Jad record ONLY for collectors as it would sound like crap when you played it! obviously either seb or the plant decided not to go through with it and this is the end result!

The last Cover is the regular one Really fantastic qulaity cover! its super thick high quality card and the printing is flawless!

This is the Burgundy /220 is a VERY nice deep clear colour possibly the nicest looking solid colour LP i own!

Lastly this is the Solid green /300 its a very nice pastel green that seems to fit in very well with the overall theam and feel of this record!

OVERLOAD - DEMO 2008 - JAD - Blue 3/50

The story for this record is one of great losses! To start with this record was going to be /500 and have around 5 colours! However the plant sent Seb 500 records without letting him hear the record via test press's first and the end result was 500 records that were largly useless! the majority of these were skipping! and to add insult to injury the plant sent seb something in the region of 17 differnt colours of this 7"!!! So having no other choice seb had to Dump 450 records in a skip in belgium and sell the only records that appeared to be in good order! Great demo from a fantastic band!
Another fact for you! I helped edit the art on this release as well!

They say people save the best until last and i have saved my personal favourite JAD release (up to date) for just that!
Times together hold a place in my heart for being the UKs only youthcrew band! Someone once told me that i listen to a genre that died out ten years ago, was worshipped in europe and never reached the UK! To that i just asked "What about Times together?" Full on Wishingwell worship at its best this release is amazing in every single way! The songs you will find on this 7" will make you wish it was a full length! The only problem i can think of is that this record ends far far far to soon!

TIMES TOGETHER - THE CHANGING OF THE LEAVES

The cover for this is awesome! its super thick, good quality card and spotless printing!
It helps that i can see 3 people i know in the crowd in the photos haha! even if one of them has their face coverd by James's hand haha!
First up its the White mix 3/11!
The cover for this is the same as all the rest except it is hand numberd on the frount with "White Mix 3/11"

This record is a very faint mauve. its obviously the transition between the purple and the white and its very hard to take a picture of haha!

Green /120 isnt quite solid rather marbled with a slightly darker green!

Believe it or not this is the red/90 i promise that in normal light it is a very nice clear red however because im holding it up to a light it looks orange haha!

The White /180 is a very cool solid white with slight streaks of purple in it! very very slight !

Last of the regular colours is the Purple /110! As you can see its kind of a smokey purple and awesome to the max!

Last but by no means least is my Times Together Changing of the leaves TEST PRESS!! 4/22! Like all the other 7" tests this comes in a plain white sleeve with the JAD test press stamp! the record has the awesome Times together wishing well logo on one side and the JAD logo on the other!

YO! I HAVE RETURNED AND WITH THE MOTHER OF ALL UPDATES!
haha! Yes the rumors are true Just another day records have released 2 more amazing records and as i just got the last of them in the mail today i am treating you my loyal reader(s?) to a amazing 34!!! thats 34!!!!! record update!!! HOLY SHIT!
So bare with me as i upload about 40 + pictures and write about each one!

first off here is what i got in the post today, its a missing overload 7" i didnt get in my first package, the debaser 2nd press and the new out to sea 7"

OK! first individual record! i will be starting off with the Overload "we live here and now" 7"!!
This record is amazing! flat out brilliant! youneed to go over to Just another days website now and download it! agreed? good!
The pre order colour for this record is a INSANE gold /44 with stamped sleeve. This colour was originaly going to be /88 in tribute to Floorpunch however as with many of the records in this press the plant messed up a little! Pictures dont do this record justice!

Seb the labels owner wrote me messages on the dust jacket!!

Amazing!

Record number 2! This is the "Fucked up gold press" 13/15 again pictures don't do this justice! IRL it looks a bit like aged copper! that's starting to go green! very nice! these records are being up in no order but what i will say is that the transitions and pre order came with a different cover to the rest of the records the alternative cover is under the 2nd fucked up gold picture. i will point out if a record is a transition or not.

Black /61 pretty standard black record! cannot go wrong with this will probs play this one the most!

Clear Blue /83 this is a very nice dark clear blue! i love that JAD hasn't gone for a lighter one as i feel this one fits more with the rest of the Overload records in this press!

Bare with me here as there are a few colours in this press that look pretty similar saying that i have taken a picture of them all together and they look pretty different! This is the "olive green" /32 its a really nice solid colour with some hints of black in it!

This is the “army” green marbled /100 again a great colour! i have to say i prefer it to the olive as it doesn't remind me of baby poo as much haha! sorry Seb but the olive green dose make me think of that haha!

Here is where i get a little confused! this is the brown/grayish mixed color /95 this and the purple/ pink look very much a like to me! so much infact that i forgot to take a picture of the purple and took 2 of the brown haha! worry not as i have a picture below with it in and i will review it there!

Here are all the colours that i have gotten a little confused over! the second from the left is the pink/purple mix /74 that i forgot to take a picture off! Next to the brown its very obvious which is which although if you were to hand them to me individually i would struggle to tell them apart!

The White /50 is great as mine comes with some faint black lines in it. there is a transition white with black/grey streaks in it but as the plant messed up Seb decided to only use the very badly affected ones as transitions!

The Clear green /75 is a great dark clear green in the same fashion as the clear blue! a really cool colour!

All copies come with black streaks

The Dark green 13/28 (transition) is a much darker version of the clear and almost looks black! sorry for the lack of more pictures some seem to have gotten lost in the upload!

13/20 numbered copies on marbled blue with a blue JAD stamp (transition. stamp not pictured)
my Blue marbled isn't as marbled as the on eon the JAD website but it comes with the numbered and stamped sleeve and looks alot milkier than the clear blue. very cool.

Another transition for you here is the white marble 13/15 with stamped dust sleeve ( not pictured sorry SEB I'm slacking) personally i love records like this! i would much rather have a press like this than a plain record! i think it makes you feel like you have something special!

The Grey marble 13/31 transition is a mix of the black and the white i think! the plant must have messed up alot to get this! its really cool tho!

Last but not least its the Test press! no message on this one like my Debaser one did still stoked to get it tho! Seb has given this release a red sleeve to match the regular sleeve colour! test was out of 20 but then they sent Seb 4 more so he added them on to the total tests are not numbered.

Complete Overload "We live here and now" collection

Next release is the band that got Seb to start Just another day record! Out to sea are a band i haven't listened to alot but have my respect! Finally i have JAD 001!!

/35 green mix with black stamp! this is a very nice subtle mix of green with red into it! really nice to look at!

The JAD website says this next one is
"38 clear mix with red stamp (various degree in marbling some are streaked with red and green, others are streaked slightly we just toke the most notable ones out and stamped them to avoid any confusion)"
i say its CANDY FOR THE BRAIN! look at this thing its pure fun to look at!

the /200 on red isn't the same red that you got with the Debaser first press! this one is more of a reddy orange and very soft not as harsh as the debaser red! fits in well with the cover art!

this is my green /83 im not 100% sure if they all had black streaks in but mine most definatly did! A nice solid green very much like (if not exactly the same as) the debaser second press green.

last of the regulars is the clear /170! this isnt a completely clear record more like a hazy clear! trying to think of what it reminds me off! no matter! its cool none the less! Finally for this record we have the test press 6/13 no message on this one either! still cool tho yellow sleeve to match the yellow cover!

Complete Out to sea 7" collection!

last release is the 2nd press of the debaser 7" lots of green records :P

there were 2 colors for the 2nd debaser press! and as ususal the plant came back with some amazing transition colors
please exuce the mixed up pictures its very late and im exhausted haha!

first up! its the green /black 6/12 ! the really nice green from the out to sea records with a splash of black on the side !

this next one (White/225) is the whitest record i own! i think! good luck finding a groove on it haha! very nice!

This is the regular green very hulk like and very similar (if not the same) as the Out to Sea green! a great colour! Will it appear in all future JAD releases? Time will tell!

The "Mint Green" is amazing, flat out! It reminds me of some of the colours for the Signs of hope Choices made 7" that i own! The green is alot lighter because of the white and it looks almost like smoke!

Finally my 100% complete Just Another Day Record collection! I am sure i have said it before but just incase and because it cant be said enough JAD is the best upcomig lable! So on sunday evening i went to stay with my Buddy Chris and his friends in Dubin For a few days.
I did this because i needed to get away from this crummy town and everything it reminds me off!
basicly for those who dont knwo Me and the mother of my kid broke up a few weeks ago because she cheated on me and it destroyed me. I wont go into any details but i can say that we are talking for Alfies sake and things are moving on.
So when you live in a small town and are together for 3 years you pretty much end up going every where and doing everything together. As such no matter where i went or what i did everything reminds me off what ive lost and such.
So i asked Chris if i could come stay with him for a few days at short notice being the crucial dude he is, he agreed straight away!
3 weeks later im in Dublin and it felt pretty damn good!
I met Chris through Thunderlizard.com when i posted that i was going to be at the Betrayed show in dublin on my birthday in june! Chris went out of his way to tell me how to get to every record store and even came out of work early to come meet me and hang out! I had the best time that day and it was all with out her so everywhere i went i wasnt reminded all the time!
When i arrived in dublin sunday i met Chris at the airport and we decided to go for a walk down the highway for some reason haha! it was a laugh! we had to run through car parks and over junctions and then back over them! we found a bus stop eventually and made our way into dublin!
Sunday night was cool we just stayed up playing dragon ball z and watching tv!!
Monday was great! i watched hitchhikers guide when i woke up and then headed for Dublin central! did alot of window shopping almost bought some shoes but chickened out almost got a watch but didnt and almost bought some glasses but decided against it! I did get some awesome Japanese food tho!!!!! the biggest tempura EVER! with Udon noodles and dumplings!!
Monday night i met up with Chris and we went to see The Final Destination with Kayliegh his housemate and her brother. Always a sucker for 3d films even if they are cheesy as fook!
Monday night was depressing as we foundout that we didnt save on dragon ball z and had lost all our saved characters! BAD TIMES!

Tuesday it raned alot! so me and keyleih watched Batman Forever whilst her brother came over and we all started baking Kayliegh and her brother started making vegan cupcakes and i decided i really wanted to make some orange and chocolate cookies! so i ran down the shop and got the ingredients and we made some unfortunatly they rurned out moe like flat cakes but still tasted really good! I met Chris after he finished work and we went to the Japanese resturant again! He had Ramen and i had an amazing Bento box! omnomnom! after we went to the arcade and played a few rounds! i had my arse handed to me alot as chris seems to have elastic wrists haha!
after we wnet for awalk about the city and headed home watched some tv and passed out!
wednesday was 4 bus's a plane and a train for me and then a late shift at work needless to say i slept really well!

So last week i saw Outlast posyt a bullitin saying they had leftover tank tops for sale, being a huge fan of the band and having a day session with a tattooist coming up soon i figured i would treat myself! Turns out Dave from the band had set me one aside already! Awesome! $12 of my money later i had a tank on its way to me soon! by chance i rememberd that the band had a special tpur cover of the tapes they put out recently so i asked Dave if he had any left! He did so another $5 of my money went his way. I love the cover on this tape its so fun! Dave then mentioned that he was going to put a surprise in my order! now heres the thing...i, Fucking, LOVE SURPRISES! So this morning i get a package From Outlast! eager for my surpise i ripped it open and found my tank, tour tape &&& FRIENDS PRESS TAPE!!!
this is something special to me ! its the first "friends press" i have ever recieved! i got number 2/15! Dave said " i figured since you've supported us from the beginning and continue to do so, you deserved one" how nice is that! The best thing about this is the cover! My good mate Jay Jaycoby!!! its clearly a awesome Floorpunch rip! i hope Jay gets one! he deserves to for this art!!

Yesterday i recieved my Youth crew 09 comps!!
i have been waiting for these for a good few months now and i honestly thought that they were never going to arrive Upside Down records threw in a copy of the lighten up/ big ups split, havn't had a chance to listen to it yet the art for it is terrible tho!

Onto the comps!
I originaly plaved an order for the comp on Orange /100, black /400 and then Heidi orderd me a test when upside down put some up to help pay the cost of changing one of the pressing plates. Soo all that was about 3-4 months ago? for some reason instead of sending out all the records at the same time they decided to first ship all the US orders and then the international orders. Fair enough i suppose they said about a month & a half ago that all the international orders had been shipped and i was stoked that i would finaly be getting these! quite a few weeks went by and other US orders that i made after these were finally posted arrived before these! i contacted Colby from the label and he said that if they hadnt arrived by the time he was home from tour ( 8 days) he would re send them. so 10 days went by and i contacted him and he asked what i wanted to do, i replied saying i just wanted the records and could he send them again.
i didnt get a reply and oddly the next day the records arrived witha postage date of july 15th (meaning they were shipped when he was on tour), hmm a bit odd but i am happy to have the records.

So the first thing you notice with these is the awesome oldschool cover! very early Rev stick and paste! This carrys onto the labels as well!

This is my "Orange" /100 altho by the looks of the black swirls in it i may have lucked out and gotten a transition! /20 or so

Below is my Test! obviously it is a Rejected test (hence the stamp!) i'm a bit annoyed that i didnt end up getting an accepted test press. The accepted ones had an awesome Decendents rip off sleeve that i would have loved! no matter it wasnt menat to be, prehaps one day i will pick one up with that sleeve!
the rejected test comes with a regular sleeve if you are wondering!

When i placed the order for these records i also orderd the Reveal the Truth demo tape! RTT are an amazing band and have a split 7" coming out on dead end records in november with the immence Outlast!
(not the euro outlast the new american outlast)

I love the RTT art!
altho this tape still feels a bit bare .. must be the blank cassettes!

I also recieved my ticket for Bringing it down and BOLD in london next month!
Bringing it down have had mixed reception from all! I personaly think it will be a good laugh!

Yesterday i recieved the Bridge nine warehouse editions i orderd.
if youdont know about this its pretty weird. Bridge nine on their year long clear out found loads of copys of old releases that had no original sleeves, the releases included Champoin " promises kept" Outbreak "you make us sick" & No Warning "Ill blood" to name a few. WHat they did is screen print some covers and stuck them up on the store for regular LP & 7" prices no varients just the record on any colour they have laying aroud and one of these generic sleeves.
so as you can see i orderd Champion and Outbreak. When i orderd these i had very little money in my bank so i could only get two records. looking back i wish i had the money to get No warning as well, seeing as i already own these 2 records and have no copy of Ill Blood.

I orderd Promises Kept because my Dead & Gone records copy is ever so slightly warped and i was hoping for one of the colour varients of this pressing...got black..OH WELL!

RIGHT!
Today i recieved my package from Just another day records ! Basicly JAD will be the best Euro label in a few years so make sure youkeep on top of them! Seb & Jasper have ALOT of good bands coming out on them (Overload, Resolve, Freewill...) and have many more in the works that you will want to know about.
A few months ago i was joking with Seb saying that i was going to keep a complete JAD collection. Seb thought this was a fantastic idea and promised that he would help me out in everyway possible even holding records for me if i couldnt afford them when they go up.
with an offer like that i couldn't refuse could i?

A few months down the line and we have JAD's first release..

The first thing i have to note is that Seb never meant there to be this many varients with this record but the plant messed up slightly. There should be only 3 varients with JAD's future releases ... most anyway.
the first record in this picture that gets my eye is the "Neon" yellow out of 110. its a really intense color and i havnt any others like it! My crappy iphone picture dosn't do it any justice!

While i remember all the records (appart from the tests ) have large holes on purpose to fit in with the old look they were trying to get with the record.

Another perk of Sebs kind offer is that he sent me the Debaser tour colour as well, which woyld have proved a right bitch to get hold of if he hadnt haha!

below is the pre order colour for this release. Its a really nice dark purple that looks almost black unless you hold it to a light.

Haha! just noticed we have Harry Kim from Star Trek Voyager in the hole of this record! Amazing!
This is a really nice mix of the light blue and Dark Magenta. Obviously from some dirty plates! looks great to me tho :P

Last but not least... well it is least its the rarest colour of this release so ignore me.

OK so another quick update before i go to work.

Remission are a fairly new band from Chile! if you are yet to hear this band you need to. The demo i picked up from them is stunning! vocally and musically its right up there with the best!

i havnt heard this LP yet but everything else i ahve heard by Insted i have loved so i see no reason why i shouldnt love this!

the other record i recieved was the repress of the Right Idea "Our World" LP, this was repressed by Bottled up records when Aram from React records asked them to. A fantastic record this time on a 7" thats been made to look like a bootleg!

Dublin times

What can i say about the last week that can justify it?
I really dont know. On sunday i saw my family and my parents gave me my birthday gifts (i turned 21 on wednesday)
a matte black Project Debut MK III!!!!
a lovely Amp that i used to use alot when i lived at my parents and some records and stuff :)
fantastic! couldnt be happier!

On wednesday morning i flew out to Dublin. i was meant to be going with a buddy but due to err unseen circumstances he couldnt make it. so off i went to stansted all by my little self. no worrys caught the flight ok got to Dublin just fine, problem was i had given myself to much time. i arrived in dublin at 11 and finished my tour that Chris had given my by 1 =D (cheers mate)
somehow i managed to find a semi decent veggie resturant haha! (below) and that hit the bloody spot i tell you!

after that i wonderd round a bit got depressed at seeing 9 year olds begging on the street, tried to finds a decent comic store and sat by the river for a good 3 hours haha!
soem time after 5 i got a call from Chris who came and met me at the river :D
Great guy who went well out of his way to help me out! introduced me to pretty much all teh hardcore kids in Dublin i was surprised that there were any after seeing none all day when walking about haha!
found some comic stores and had a nice bowl of chips!
When i got to the show Aram (betrayed,champion,TFS, the vows etc etc etc)walks up to me says hi and wishes me happy birthday. Real stand up dude! was a bit chuffed he recognised me :D
Inside the show i headed straight to the merch stand and got some shirts and the new Rotting out 7" about 10 minutes later i realised that the dude who sold me the stuff was Justin from thunder lizard/Reveal the truth!!! had a nice old chat with him about the RTT 7" and such :D
Betrayed were fucking ace! just like i remember em! Aram hasnt changed in the years since i last saw em play and he was nice enough to get the band and crowd to sing me happy birthday. Justin recorded the audio from the show so as soon as i get it i will post it on here :D
After the show i went back to Chris's house and watched Happy gilmore! fuck i havnt seen that in so long! It was a perfect end to a perfect birthday

SIGNS OF HOPE!

Awesome mail day yesterday!
so when i heard that Detonate records was going to be putting out the new signs of hope record on a 7" i was excited! i already had a complete collection and i was eager to keep it that way! then Paul from detonate/SOH said that there was going to be 6 regular colors and then 5 transition colors and a test bugger i thought that 12 records! Eager to keep the collection complete however i shelled out and sent Paul a message asking he make sure i got all the colors and a test. Paul messaged me back saying no problem whatsoever! When paul got the test in he said that i was going to be getting 1/5 the only one with writing from the plant on, SCORE! About a week ago paul recieved all the records! turns out he now has 7 transition colors! including the delightful "Piss" color /2 ( if you ask me Paul need sto drink more fluids as its a murky gold color!) since there were now 7 transitions i asked Paul if i could grab the 2 i needed if i sent him the money for the ones i needed Paul said sure thing and sent the records my way!

My clear had light grey streaks in it

and my white has a arc of whte in it near the lables

Anyway here are my special transitions! each one is number 1/whatever
first up is the "Milky blue" /11
very nice reminds me of what milk looks like if you put fruit squash in it.

here is the "Smoke" /14 i am a huge fan of clear records with splashes of color in them! if i ever release something of my own it will be clear/orange.

The next is an odd one "Oreo" /8 its clearly a mix of white and black! however if you hold it to a light it looks like there is some clear in thee as well near the lable! prehaps its only clear and white who knows!

probably the prettiest of the 7 transitions is the clear "green/blue" /6! its very nice its mainly green around the edges but it somtimes streaks towards the middle!

the "red/black" or as i like to call it "Dirty blood" /6 transitions is pretty cool! black streaks around the outside of a clear red record!

The "spotted gold" /4 is pretty much just the gold with some black streaks! this makes me think! how did so much black get into so many of the transitions? the only black SOH records were the tests!

By far the oddest is the "Piss" /2 these were not so much numberd as they were named! mine was Alex/2 and the other was Josh/2.Dispite what Paul told me this dose not smell of piss!

this is quite possibly the most confusing test press that i own!

So heres is my package from Positive and focused records, i am a big fan of this label not because of the bands but because of the Effort Toni p puts into each release! so when i preorderd the new Pressure 7" (with a normal version of the Golden X 7") and found out i was going to get a test press i was excited. In the past Toni has made box sets and such in limited numbers so i was hoping he would again, ... he didn't. However the test covers more than make up for this. its a rip on the SSD the kids will have their say record each cover is stamped and hand numberd ( as is the record with the cover coming with a named/numberd strip!

Yo!
Quick post today with what i have received in the last week or so!
not alot since almost everything in my incoming list is a pre order (check bottom of this post)

First up is the React Records Package deal for the Gone but not Forgotten tape and Effort Fanzine (React & GBNF shirts not pictured)
*Gone But Not Forgotten - Seattle Crew 08, Demo tape - REACT - /300
GBNF are one of the great new Youth Crew bands that have come to my attention within the last year or so! Fantastic band and i cannot wait for a 7" or LP From them! Tape was released as a one time pressing /300 from React and looks very professional!
I will be The first to admit that i don't buy Zines that often, not to say that i don't at all but they will have to catch my eye for me to fork out the cash for one. Effort Fanzine did just that! it is HUGE! i don't know exactly how many pages it has but t is enough to warrant it having a spine like a magazine instead of the usual staples! The Zine itself is full of fantastic long interviews and pictures! Cannot wait to get a chance to read it!

Below is the 2nd press of the Times Together demo tape /50
this self released tape has been spray painted with the bands name, a rip off of the instead cover and an extra track, it looks rather nice.
I like this band they are pretty much the UK's only youth crew band and i have to respect them for that, its something i want to get going but i don't know many musicians who would want to do it! I have been told that this band talked shit on my old band calling us metal kids or something (perhaps the other members but defiantly not me) anyway that doesn't bother me, dudes still make good music!

Every so often people get lucky and this month it was my go!
A while ago i sent SOH a message asking them if they had any spare copys of the demo 7" that wasnt pressed any more than the test press /8
The singer Paul (of hope) contacted me a few weeks ago saying he had asked the old guitarist Evan of the band to get in contact with me. later on i got a message over myspace from Evan saying he was willing to let the test go and asked what i had in return. so after a email saying i would pay him or trade about 2 weeks went by with no reply. finaly Evan replied saying i could just have it! no charge just pay for postage! after further investigation it turned out he had a spare demo tape left as well! a test press and a demo tape for $10 !

So it is my understanding that this band is pretty new and i suppose thats confirmed by there self release of this.

First off i gotta say thanks for the thankyou note, i personaly love it when a band takes the time to slip one of these in with an order! Its even better when the note is a sticker that will be going on my record box (will keep the backing still)

From what i can figure out (from pictures etc) there are atleast 3 differnt cover varients for this release. i have seen red, orange and the blue that i recieved, i have no idea what color is the rarest and im slightly curious. anyway i have number 4/12 and im rather fond of it.

The band them selves are a fantastic Euro Youthcrew band from Faro Portugal, fantastic sound! A Euro Champion, without as much melody! Fast to the point and slightly addictive!

More than enough reasons to get the 7" they have coming out later this year!

Alert are an amazing band from Western Massachusetts. A really good youth crew band that better go on to bring out more tapes/EPs/LPs! because this short tape snt enough to satisfy my hunger

these records became available to me when a e-mate on punktastic decided he didnt want them any more! i had been bugging him to let me have them ever since he let it out the bag he won them off ebay! so now there mine!!!!
the floorpunch record is a must for any collection that has been missing from mine for far to long :P

so first up we have the Youth crew 08 comp which is an amazing little comp so many bands on here that i love this particular version is the clear /250
the awqard thing is i already have this :S but none the less its amazing joe got this for me :D youth crew bands are my musical life mainly and he knew i would love it :)

now these i love :D these are star wars "chubbies" which in essence are russian dolls that depic the differnt stages in a characters development or age lol Joe got me the rebel pilots ! the helmet comes off and the visor retracts up :D each one has a magnet at its base and detachable feet/stands :) want to get more of these :P

finaly the crappest picture of all HAHA!
i'v been so fucking lazy with this post and i really dont care right now as its xmas and the southpark xmas special is on best excuse ever!
none the less i have some fucking awesome stuff this year :D HEidi has been amazing :) she surprised me with a huge box that had another lovely wrapped package in it which in turn had another wraped package in it whih was 12 months of xbox live in it :D YES! this makes the Left 4 Dead game i got 100% better as i can play online now ^_^

so the story of these records and infact most of the records in this thread is a long one! i orderd these months ago from the label doubleXcrossed they were cheap and i had meaning to pick them up for a while as the band play near me every now and then and i feel like helping them out. now after about a month of not recieving them i rememberd them and tried to contact the label .....NOTHING no matter what i do i cant get to them so i message the band and they try and nothing happens.. blah blah blah long story short the band being legends decide they will send me the records because they are fucking legends!

everyone who preorderd these in July was left in the dark about them for months upuntil a few weeks ago when the label revealed they were having problems with the printers! fair enough everyone thinks! DON say everything ships that week. 2 weeeks later everyone gets a shipping email from Districtlines the DON distributors! umm ok everyone thinks lil peeved but at least they are on the way. at last people get them and think WOAH THESE ARE PACKAGED REALLY CRAPPY! then they think WOAH HOLY SHIT ALL MY RECORD JACKET SLEEVES ARE STUCK TO EACH OTHER BECAUSE THE PRINTERS TOLD DON THAT IT WAS A COOL IDEA TO SCREEN THEM! holy shit now what basicly loads of E-BEEF on B9 etc and now DON are re printing sleeves and sending them ot for frees so everything is cool yeah?
NO! because i got slapped with a fucker of a customs charge with them teh spermy icing on the warm turd cake!

as you can see i was "lucky" and only my bundy and count were fucked up! oh well!

i had heard of there label crucial responce a few years back when i was on tour with my old band and one of there bands played onee of the shows i played
the band were one voice, i picked up a long sleeve and a 7" from them and to be fair pretty much forgot about them unfortunatly.

lovely fucking poster with this record! cover is printed on nice thick card as well!

now you are thinking whats the point of that charming little tour tale Alex, well humble reader i have a superb reason! a few weeks ago i was browsing the get the most myspace and listening to there mates and i stumbled upon one voice and crucial responce. so i added them both and thought nothing of it again. then last week they posted a bullitin advertising these fucking amazing jackets which i coulnt resist so i orderd one and picked up these 7" that i wanted!

such a lovely green on this record! marble has to be my favourite of all record styles!

My free patch will find a nice home for this .... not on my jacket!

falling off the edge

so whilst i was at work today i was listening to the champion last show cd on my iphone and it got to the part when there singer started talking about straight edge and i realised just how right he was.
his speech was basicly about how edge was a LIFEstyle choice and not just a teenage rebellion, and how when these kids break edge they dont just go and have the occasional smoke or teh occasional drink with dinner they go and smoke 40 a day or become drinkers and it got me thinking about frends of mine who broke edge. in no way am i putting my friends down i love them and i respect there choices in life, however it seems that since they broke edge they have become drinkers somewhat and smokers as well! before they became edge i never remember them drinking as much as they seem to do now and its got me worried that they may start needing the stuff to have fun when i know they dont because when they were edge we used to have lots of fun! im also not saying that they never used to drink alot becaue i know they did but only at birthdays and festivals and such not every week.

straight edeg to me is a very big part of my life, im very proud to be edge, i have never drunk but i used to smoke quite heavily so when i quit i had a huge sence of satisfaction and that continues to this day. im not telling every one to go edge because its not for everyone its simply hard for me to understand why people claim then break a year or so later, i claimed when i was a lil older than 16 so i may have been young and " unable to drink anyway" (bollocks if i wanted to drink do drugs or smoke it would have been to easy and i could have donw it daily if i wanted) i have stuck to it! i didnt turn 18 and think " wahey lets go get hammerd lols" im 20 now and in june next year i would have made it past the legendary 21 mark and i plan to keep on going!

Since Alfie was born i havnt been able to hangout as much as i used to and that on top of almost everyone going to uni menas that when i do see my friends it means alot to me and i try to enjoty it as much as i can. im hoping that we dont grow apart and we stay frends but at the moment i am doubtful! i think its part of life that people grow appart, i just didnt think it would happen so soon. i need to make more of an effort to see the friends close to me and try my best to stay in contact with those who have moved away.

sooooo! today was a pretty damn good mailday!
as you can see i got 2 recs and a cd but not pictured are the bits of merch that arrived as well
got a signs of hope tshirt baseball shirt and hoodie for half price in there 5 year sald so that plus out strong pound means i paid about £20 for all 3 with postage!! woooooo
as a bonus they threw in the CD pictured (61/100) it was this i was most pleased about out of everything i got today :D

today i got a neat little package from a record buddy in Canada!
i prevously bought a tear it up screenprinted lp off him and betrayeds substance 1st press white which took a age to arrive because i insisted on it being sent recorded which took 3 months haha

when i bought the other records off Ben i also paid for this in my eyes demo but he had left it at his parents so he said he would post it my way at a later date
as a reward for being patient he threw in a better than a thousand pic disc! i didnt know these existed until i saw it, a very very nice surprise :D

after watching counting the days i decided that i needed there lp and for a fiver its a fucking bargin!

the dude i got this off was selling this one and it on red
i managed to snap up the Clear /500 for £1.70 whilst the red /1000 went for £6.50 bit bizzare but cool for me.

second up is The first steps Connection EP £3 of ebay
this is the second press and isnt anything special but i needed it and it was cheap so i snapped it up! it comes on a nice clear blue and its a welcome addition!

finaly something i kicked myself over and over again for not getting as soon as it came out but here it is the second press of Verse Aggression on grey :) fantastic record from a fantastic band :D

i am very pleased with this order mainly because i had heard of people getting there order and it being very warped or damaged
to prevent this i added a note with my order asking b9 mailorder crew to pad out my order as much as possible :D
to my surprise my request was noted and my order was padded out with not 1 not 2 but 4 card strengthners :D nothing warped everything fantastic condition

thats not to say there were no problems with this order
when i made the order i orderd the sworn in 2 colours but got an email saying that one of the colours was out of stock, boo but no matter at least i have it :)
then this is what annoyed me most i orderd Outbreaks Failure on red, but got sent it on black. this wouldnt normaly bother me because they sent the rarer first press of the record.
however because i own this record on every other colour ( due to my OB collection) this botherd me greatly i was excited to finally have a pretty much complete collection ( besides tests and a posi numbers edition)
so i have an extra copy either for trade for the red depending on what b9 say when they email me

so thats my moaning done
now i was hoping that B9 would release the reason for this order with the LP thats out on the 30th but no matter

just a lil bit of info on its pressing etc before i get down to it

from what i can figure out it is either the 1988 2nd press or the 2001 final press i do believe that it is the 2nd press as it came with a 1993 mail order cataloug (3rd press wasnt until 1997) which is very nice indeed ( makes me wish i bought it new so i could have orderd everything else off the list)
the matrix says the usual "rev 8", its number and has "RE 1" which i hope means its the first reissue.

I first heard this album when i was just getting out of street punk and into hardcore a good manner of years ago now. Youth Of Today along with Gorrilla Biscuits, Bold and Judge (to name a few) were very infulential in getting me into hardcore and other genres.
Ray of todays vocals seemed so differnt to the usual slack jawed punk i had previously been listening to and i couldnt stop listening i found other bands through this music that mean so much to me. its a surprise that i havnt gotten a copy of this on vinyl before now, its a very positie step towards completing the collection!

so i had this idea today to make a blog!

im just starting really only been at it propperly a year or so! still ahve so much stuff i need to get that i have downloaded and now feel guilty about so need to buy on wax!
currently all my records are in record boxes but im in desperate need of a nice shelf unit wityh an even nicer record player on top, my old record player packed up some time ago and instead of saving for a new one i have been downloading an album then buying it, which sucks! until lables started giving digital downloads with records when you order them! i find this fantastic because it saves me the guilt of soulseek!
now if only ebay would incorperate this ;)
